Boots Tea Tree and Witch Hazel Back Spray

by - June 15, 2016

A few years ago I noticed that every Spring/Summer time my back gets quite dry and acne starts developing which becomes itchy and some spots even had puss in them.. gross, I know! It's so uncomfortable especially when clothes or my bra straps rub against them, this is also known as 'backne' as I have found out recently.

As expected, the bacne came in full force about 2 months ago, also a little on my chest too, but I thought I would just let it sort itself out (takes at least 6 months including scar marks to fade) since I wouldn't be exposing my back anytime soon or going on holiday.. so I thought. Turns out at the end of the month I would be, I needed something to fix up my back fast! I did some thorough research and actually already settled on buying Head & Shoulders Clean Classic Shampoo as I read on a few sites that it contains an ingredient that's suppose to kill the bacteria on your back. I don't know how but I somehow stumbled across this the Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Body Back Spray and it had 99% positive reviews on Boots (UK drugstore) website, so I was persuaded!
Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Body Back Spray £5.19

On the website it said it costs £4.99, but in store it was £5.19, not a significant difference, so I don't feel any which way about it, but thought it was good to mention.
As soon as I got home I used it straight away expecting to see some kind of improvement within the hour since it says it "starts working instantly", but obviously that's impossible so it didn't happen, I was just desperate.. very, very desperate. It does have a strong tea tree smell that fills the room when using, but I wasn't bothered by it as I've used a lot of tea tree products in the past, I'm pretty much immune to the smell.

Spraying it on yourself can be a little difficult, if you have the bottle upside down it doesn't really spray out, so you have to try and keep the bottle upright in order to have a 'full' burst spray. After using this for 2+ weeks, I've found the perfect way to spray it on your own back, if like me, you don't have someone or an other half to help you.
In order to get the 'full burst', you must bend over quite low and hold the bottle in an upright position over your head.

After 3 days of using it 2-3 times a day I began to definitely see results, by no means is this product a miracle but it comes pretty close to it. In the first 3 days of using, I was still getting the odd acne pimple here and there but it slowed the development of the acne wayyyy down, and in the short space of a few weeks my back has improved so much and I'm not as itchy anymore either. Also the hyperpigmentation caused by acne scars seems lighter in colour too, but that will take a lot more time to get back to normal.

I'd say my back is now a 4/10 bad, I honestly believe with continuous use, my back will be restored to it's former self eventually, and improved enough in time for my holiday, where I won't feel self conscious about people seeing my back. It was an 8/10 bad before I started using this spray.

Got to admit, I was sceptical as to how this would work since it's Boots own brand, but it goes to show quality always overrides quantity. I've already repurchased a further 2 to last me throughout my holiday, since I used the first bottle within a week.. think that just shows how desperate I am to get my back sorted lol.
